About me

My journey through 11 years in tech, lessons learned, problems solved, and why I still enjoy building things that make a difference :)

Marj Martinez

I've been in the software development field for 11 years now, long enough to have seen a few trends come and go, and still curious enough to keep learning new ones.

Which also means I've spent a good chunk of my life debugging things… and sometimes creating new ones to debug later. Half of that time was spent learning the ropes, and the other half getting better at Googling things faster. And somehow, I still enjoy it as much as when I started (maybe even more, now that things break less… sometimes).

Throughout my career, I've worked across different companies and teams, from small, scrappy setups to larger, more structured environments. I've dealt with everything from legacy systems to modern architectures, refactoring messy codebases into something more maintainable and scalable. Along the way, I've gained experience working on large interfaces and tackling complex problems that pushed me to grow.

Over time, I've come to really value writing simple, clean, and maintainable code, not just for myself, but for the people I work with. I've learned that communication is just as important as code: speaking up, sharing ideas, asking questions (because there's really no such thing as a "noob" question), and making sure we're all aligned. Most importantly, I always try to keep users at the center of every solution, understanding the "WHY" behind what we're building and making sure it actually helps.

I've been lucky to work with and learn from some incredibly talented developers along the way. Those experiences shaped how I approach problems today, I enjoy diving into complex challenges, improving systems, and building things that continue to grow and deliver long-term value for users.
